One of the absolute best labels when it comes to pailette details is Miu Miu. To this day I think they made the best pailette shoes last year when it was the trend. This bag is an oversized clutch, but as you can see it has a removable strap so you can wear it as a shoulder bag as well.The sequins are iridescent black, green, silver, and gold-toned, so this already gorgeous bag shifts colors in the light. Miu Miu Leather Cat bag

This collection of Miu Miu handbags is evidence as to why the label doesn't merit their own boutique within major department stores, a la Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Prada. I mean really... a cat brooch stuck on a plain black satchel? The python clutches could be OK without the giant bird detail. What's with the animals? They remind me of something my ninety year old granny would carry.

Well it's about darn time. Miu Miu has put out their newest handbag collection, called the stage bags and they are fabulous. In the last few years the bags they have put out have been average at best, but this collection makes up for past mistakes. The largest bags are the one pictured above and it's still a relatively small bag, so these bags aren't suitable for everyday use if you're like me and carry a lot of stuff, but for evening wear they will be perfect. Of course, the jewel strap is my favorite part of this collection, but I also really like the quilting details and beautiful spring colors. The bags are very reasonably priced, but about right for the small size of the bags. The medium sized bag is slightly bigger than a hand and the smallest bag is just about hand size.

Recently Miu Miu pulled all of their handbags from department stores because they feel the label should have a boutique within the stores like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and a few other exclusive designer handbag brands. The department stores didn't think the Miu Miu label was worthy of the status and based on this hideous bag I can see why. What is with the super long straps!? Add to that the most plain and ordinary bag ever. Miu Miu had a pretty good shoe collection last fall, and some of their handbags are decent, but with designs like this one, the label has a long way to go if they want to be worthy of a store within a store. $1,150

It seems Miu Miu, Prada's sister brand, thinks they are worthy of their own store in store, a la Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, and Chanel. They no longer want the Miu Miu bags to mingle with the likes of Marc Jacobs, YSL, Valentino, Dior or Fendi.

The Wall Street Journal has recently reported that Prada’s sister brand, Miu Miu has departed from many U.S. department stores as a result of a disagreement of how the secondary brand should be displayed. The company wanted their own store-in-stores, while the department stores wanted to mix Miu Miu in with all the other high-end bags.

While I like some of the Miu Miu handbags, they haven't earned the status of having a store in store. The company was created in 1992, while LV and Gucci have been around for almost a hundred years. Not to mention it's a much cheaper line than other store in store brands. I mean, do the Miu Miu folks really think they compare to Chanel? As if.

I usually really like Miu Miu handbags, but this one just has me a bit confused. It's natural python, but almost entirely done in the small side and underbelly scales. That makes me think they were just trying to take the cheap route which shouldn't be done with exotics, because those of us that would spend the big bucks on an exotic bag know what to look for. Now for the straps...they are both too skinny and too long. The model pictured with the bag is probably at least 5'9", so on an average sized 5'6" person the bag would hang far too low. And for such a wide bag, the straps should be thicker and wider, as well. There also should be some contrasting detail or piping, in leather perhaps. A second opinion I just received said it looks like a granny bag and I wholeheartedly agree. $3,350.
