That's A Fabulous Handbag

I usually like Prada's classic, leather bags with simple logo details. Prada never goes overboard with labels everywhere and that's a good thing. The brand has earned a reputation of understated luxury, only recognizable by insiders. Rarely does Prada designer, Miuccia Prada, go outside of her standard, classic designs described as cool, comfortable, pure, graceful, and minimalistic. When she does, like with this snakeskin print bag, it can be hit or miss, however I really like this one. It's nylon gabardine with snake print and gold Prada logo on front with oversized bow detail. It has lambskin handles and a detachable shoulder strap. It's at Bluefly for 20% off, $995 $796. If you want it, better hurry, there's one left.

Lots of great sales going on out here in cyberspace, just in time for holiday shopping. This beautiful Alexander McQueen handbag is one of his popular Clover bags, and is made from soft cream colored leather with black patent leather detail. I love the gold nameplate on the front. The shiny gold dresses up the bag a bit, but the Alexander McQueen signature is discreet and doesn't take away from the plate. While I'm not a fan of the Louis Vuitton multi colored Monogram canvas bags, this could be a pretty great bag. I would love it if it were exactly the same with the Damier canvas or Epi leather. However it's not the multi color canvas that bothers me as much as who the bag was named after. Brace yourself...Courtney Love. That's right. Here's what the LV PR said: Named after 'the most controversial woman in the history of rock', Courtney Love, this new Multicolore bag is true to the spirit of Courtney's colorful life with a touch of rock attitude.  

Really!? The most controversial. More like most disgusting. I can't believe they would do a Courtney Love bag when they just had Madonna for their ad campaign, who actually is the most controversial woman in all music. Oh, well. About the bag: It's crafted from the Monogram Multicolore canvas and has two natural cowhide leather bands covered with large gold studs. The bag also has an adjustable and removable leather strap if you feel like carrying it on your shoulder. The Courtney has a large opening with a double zip, and inside there's a flat pocket and a phone pocket.

The Louis Vuitton Multicolore Courtney comes in two sizes, MM (15.3" x 10.6" x 9") and GM (16.7" x 11" x 10") and in two colors, Black and White. It is available at Louis Vuitton stores for $2430 and $2800 for MM and GM respectively.

This 'Jet' bag was one of my favorites from the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter collection. It's one of his bag in a bag, with a removable interior silk bag that can be used as a evening pouchette. The outside bag is soft leather with enamel studs and Marc Jacobs logo engraved lock detail. This is a really great bag and it's on sale at Bluefly for 20% off, but hurry, there is only one left. $1,516.

I have recently decided to give Gucci handbags another look based on their past couple of collections, and as I was trolling their website I almost pulled out my retired pink Visa over a shiny green python tote.  Luckily I came to my senses and moved on, that's when I came across the Bamboo Bar Leather tote.  Now this is not a bad looking, under the radar, designer handbag. I like the roomy shape, the ever so slightly distressed leather and the discreetly placed strip of embossed logo leather by the metal hardware.  There are two shoulder straps, braided leather shorter strap and GG embossed logo longer strap. ($1,895 at Gucci.com).

Really? Another eye burning mirrored monstrosity? The Louis Vuitton handbags in monogram vernis are a bit boring to begin with, but when they do the bags in mirrored silver and gold I just cringe. They are obnoxiously bright and the design, like this one, is incredibly unimaginative, not to mention cumbersome and inconvenient. Why does it have to be so deep? Your whole arm would be swallowed up trying to get something from the bottom. Since there is no strap you have to hand carry it, and arm length plus the bags length the thing's practically dragging the floor.
