That's A Fabulous Handbag

While I really like the Fall 2010 Dolce & Gabanna handbags, they aren't really any different frrom the Spring 2010 collection with a few exceptions. The fall bags have more fur and there is also a small coin purse slash ipod holder that is really cool. The lack of change was intentional, however. Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana wanted to focus on their classics, and the bags from this spring, particularily the Miss Sicily, were immediatly heralded as among their best handbag designs.

I love this Dolce & Gabanna handbag, from the beautiful quilted leather, Chanel-esque flap style, to the fabulous pearl and gemstone embellished straps. This bag is big enough to be an everyday bag, so you can get alot of use out of it, a must for me when I'm buying high-priced items. The Dolce & Gabanna Spring/Summer handbag collection had a few new designs, as well as variations of previous designs. The large flap handbag, like the one pictured above, is a design they did last season, but the colors and materials are new, as well as the gold metal nameplate. I LOVE the nameplate. Louis Vuitton recently added a nameplate to some of their bags and the reaction was hugely popular, as it will be with the Dolce & Gabanna handbags. Also a repeated design are the jewel strap shoulder bags, also with fresh colors and materials like raffia and knit. New to this collection are the basket style bags, which aren't very appealing in my opinion. Overall I think this is a great collection, however the best part of the show was the shoes.

The Fall 2009 Dolce & Gabanna handbags offer a quite diverse selection. They have beautiful, sophisticated designs like the ponyhair doctors bag and then they have brightly colored statement bags. Unlike their Spring 2009 collection, which offered only heavily embellished shoulder bags, this collection has something for the business woman. The large doctors bag design could replace the more masculine and less stylish briefcase. While Dolce & Gabanna continues the theme of embellished shoulder bags into fall, they are toned down and more wearable.

I think this is an extremely elegant and sophisticated Dolce & Gabbana handbag. It is quilted black calfskin leather with three removable straps, so it can be carried as a clutch or a shoulder bag. I think the jewel encrusted straps are beautiful and give the handbag a more formal look. The quilting in this bag paired with the jewel straps reminds me of a cross between a Chanel and Marc Jacobs handbag. This is one of my favorite bags from Dolce & Gabanna.
