That's A Fabulous Handbag

While I am not the biggest fan of Burberry handbags, every once in a while they design something so fabulous I must have it. The above heart check tote is an example. I love how they replaced the red lines in their signature plaid with hearts. The bags below are from the same heart inspired collection, and are also a great handbags and close seconds. I think they are the perfect Valentine's Day gift (hint, hint, honey). The bags are made from the signature Burberry canvas with leather trim. All bags are $695 at NORDSTROM.

My favorite thing about this Burberry Propsum Spring/Summer 2010 handbag collection is there is minimal plaid. I love it when they use their signature plaid to line bags and coats, but to cover the entire outside of a bag, any bag, in plaid is a bad idea. Personally, I've never understood why anyone would dish out $500 plus on a plaid fabric handbag. It clashes with almost everything! Anyway, in this collection, the focus was aimed at a younger set, which translated into a more sexy and glamorous look, with knots, studs and exotic materials. They also threw some bright colors into the mix for a collection that offers something for everyone. My pick is the blue, knotted python clutch.

While I like the burgendy crocodile handbag from the Burberry Prorsum Fall 2009 collection, I don't like the signature plaid one. The grey is drab. The shape of these handbags is very birkin-esque, which to me, is a classic and sophisticated style. These Burberry bags however, are bigger and more bulky than a birkin and have an almost uni-sex look. Not my favorite from this luxury label.

I have written about this handbag when it first came out, because I think it's a great bag, so I'm super excited it's now on sale. It's the Cole Haan Genevieve Tote, and it's woven patent leather and suede. The fluid-like weaving pattern is beautiful. On sale from $395 to $236.

I love the classic Burberry handbags for fall and winter. There's something about the plaid that seems fitting for cold weather. This handbag is the Burberry Pleated Check Hobo and a great everyday bag. Wouldn't it look great with a Burberry trench coat?! Available at Nordstrom, $795.
