That's A Fabulous Handbag

I really like the Louis Vuitton handbags for Fall 2010. Marc Jacobs theme for this collection was 50’s era ladylike fashion. This season, there were mostly reinterpretations of the classic Speedy, but much better. That functional shape originally designed in the 1930's, came flocked and sequined, smothered in guipure lace over satin, or woven in metallic thread and done up in fox.

The bags were mostly structured satchels, conservative in design and color.There were no extra tassels or fringe this season, just clean, simple cuts that made for classic and sophisticated bags. The only one's I didn’t like were the fur covered bags.

The Chanel handbags for Fall 2010 are hit and miss. Karl Lagerfeld said the theme for the collection was “three bears on an ice flow”, and from that are some pretty ice-y looking bags and some furry monstrosities. I’ll start with the ones I liked, like the quilted flap bag above. Unlike the classic flap bag, this one is actually a satchel that zips open at the top, and I really like how it looks like the bag was barely dipped in black paint. The next four are pretty much classic Chanel, always good to me.

Here are the three little bags that look like ice sculptures. Love them.

Love this bag. It’s a classic shoulder bag but with pieces of ‘ice’ on the front and a dangling ice charm on the chain strap.

I am on the fence about these bags. Not a fan of fur bags, but they aren’t hideous.

Hot water bottle shaped bags, complete with a hot water bottle.

The random camping backpack, ‘cause that’s where you take your Chanel.

Too.Much.Fur.

My favorite thing about Lanvin handbags are the pretty bow detail and the signature coin charm that hangs from the shoulder strap. I’m usually not a fan of the Fendi logo bags, but this one is cute. It’s a classic flap bag, but bigger and great for an everyday bag. I like the purple detail, and the gathered material that makes it look soft and fluffy. The shoulder strap is purple leather with gold tone hardware. Inside is matching purple silk lining.
