Alexander McQueen Frayed DeManta Clutch

Additional Info

It's true that accessories can make or break an outfit, and one of the easiest ways to ruin a look is by pairing a big old bulky bag with an otherwise sleek look. I'm not saying big bags don't have their place (casual day wear, shopping, travel), but if your going for a glamorous look, stick with a clutch. Personally, I usually go with a bigger clutch like the Alexander McQueen DeManta, it's sizable enough to hold my essentials without taking away from the overall look. I also like an envelope clutch, especially if paired with a blazer.

Frayed, shiny patent leather with leather trim, this designer handbag has signature turned down sides and a double zippered top closure. Inside is lined with a zippered back pocket. It has a structured, platform bottom. $995 Available here.

Alexander McQueen Union Jack Skull Clutch

Additional Info

I don't know if it's because England has such a beautiful and poised future Queen, but currently, Union Jack motif is all the rage. Alexander McQueen is based out of England, so many of their designs reflect the English culture, but around the world and here in America, the Union Jack flag adorns many a clothing and accessories. (As a matter of fact, I bought some jeans last weekend and there's a tiny Union Jack flag on the back pocket and on the rivets.) Whether it's the flag, or the simple fact that this is a gorgeous and utterly chic clutch, it's been seen on many celebrities as of late.

Blue and white leather with red patent leather, this designer handbag has a crystal and pearl embellished gold skull  shaped snap closure. It's a structured box clutch with red leather lining. $1,450 Available here.

McQ Albion Envelope Clutch

Additional Info

McQ is the little sister brand to the great Alexander McQueen, it's less expensive, but it's almost as good. Sure the details aren't as fine as in the parent company, but style wise it's comparable. It maintains the same concept of futuristic, ying yang chic. This clutch, dubbed the Albion, is from the McQ line and although it's not cheap, at $635, it's far less expensive than a McQeen bag.

Metallic patent leather with gold tone name plate on the front center, this designer handbag is great for day to evening wear. It has a chain strap than can be tucked in the bag so you can wear it as a shoulder bag or carry as a clutch. Inside is logo lining and a single zippered pocket. Available here.

Alexander McQueen Gold DeManta Clutch

Additional Info

The only thing I like better than an Alexander McQueen handbag is a McQueen handbag with a matching wallet. I have to admit, I’m a little obsessed with having matching wallets for my bags. Unfortunately, some designers don’t offer matching accessories for their bags, but when they do it’s a pair I can’t resist. This DeManta clutch does have a matching wallet and before you say a clutch doesn’t need a wallet, take note that the Demanta is very large.

While this clutch isn’t going to work with a formal dress, pair it with any casual chic look a night on the town. It’s gold, cracked leather with gold tone hardware and fold down corners. It has a zippered closure and a platform bottom. Inside is a single zippered pocket on the back wall. $840

Alexander McQueen Skull Jaw Clutch

Additional Info

Who says you can’t be highbrow and badass at the same time? No one does ladylike-meets-badass better than Alexander McQueen. The skull clutch has been on the scene for a few years now, but Sarah Burton continues to reinvent the design and make it new again, each time juxtaposing the contrasting elements.

This spring/summer 2012 clutch is called the Skull Jaw clutch because the jaw moves, and when the mouth “opens” the crystal teeth are revealed. It is cream colored leather with leather straps that knot at the front center and has gold tone hardware and a crystal embellished skull snap closure. Inside is cream colored leather. $1,595 Available here.

Alexander McQueen Folk Clutch

Additional Info

I’m super excited about a trend that’s coming back full circle, the large clutch. Whether it’s the flat envelope clutch or a rectangular shape with some width, they’re back as the casual evening bag of choice for fall and into next spring. Finally, a clutch that makes sense…you know, actuallyholds stuff. I for one, must have certain essentials with me at all times and that requires a decent sized evening bag like this McQueen clutch. Sure, I like to admire the crystal covered Judith Leibers’, but guess what, they end up on my shelf and never see the light of day outside my home.

The new evening clutch bags are meant to be tucked under the arm for a sophisticated and polished look. The size makes them great for day to evening wear, and while you’ll have to pull out the minaudiere for formal events, the larger clutch will get a lot more wear and justify the expense.

The Alexander McQueen Folk clutch with pebbled leather and oversized stitch details has a gold tone logo charm and skull charm on the wrist strap. It has a single, fold over flap with a magnetic snap closure. Inside is a single compartment with a zippered pocket on the back wall. This clutch also comes in black leather and pink suede. $1,485 Available here.
